One way to measure inflammation in the diet is to use Monica Reinagels inflammation factor rating system. In this system each food is rated as inflammatory or anti-inflammatory. Over 20 different factors are used to measure a foods inflammatory or anti-inflammatory effect on the body. A negative number is considered inflammatory and a positive number is considered anti-inflammatory. All the foods for a day are netted together to arrive at a number. There is no upper or lower limit. A number over 500 is considered strongly anti-inflammatory. Day one of this meal plan scores 2,083.GLUTENGluten is the protein found in wheat and other grains. Gluten sensitivity has been associated with blood disorders, dermatitis, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, neurological disorders, connective tissue disorders, myositis, precancerous states and some cancers. If a person has high anti-gliadin antibodies the immune system is activated and inflammation is active throughout the body.
